LED the final frontier!

November 11, 2011 9:04am

LED lamps are pretty cool. They are brighter than florescent bulbs, more efficient and they last longer. They have been the port of call for bicycle lights, torches and for solar powered garden lights for some time now, and they are good at what they do.

But the most impressive achievement of the LED bulb is they were used by NASA to effectively grow plants in space! The LED bulbs could emit the level of light at the exact spectral range needed to produce photosynthesis in plants. They use very little power and emit a lot less heat than other bulbs, and were therefore perfect for the Astronauts to use in their herb gardens.

Impressive stuff! Check out more about G10 LED Bulbs here.

Birthday Time!

November 8, 2011 4:37pm

Birthdays are a bit of a nightmare shopping area for me, especially when it's for someone like my Gran!

It's my Gran's 80th birthday this week, so I've ordered a lovely big bouquet of flowers from flower delivery Bristol and we're all driving over to Bristol on the weekend to have a little family party for her.

I love treating her, but I've no idea what to get! 80 is a big birthday and she does quite like gifts. I'm meeting my sister and my mum tomorrow after work and we're going to go and scour the shopping centre to look for something amazing, or if we can't find that, then lots of little amazing things for her.

It'll be great to see all the family, we're all going out west from all over the UK for this gathering, but I think I'll be more intrigued to see what other people bought Gran - it's so hard!

This Week...

July 23, 2011 12:22pm

I have to get to a cinema to see Horrible Bosses, it looks brilliant!

I've seen a few of the trailers and read only good things about it in film reviews, so I'm desperate to see it for myself. What's even better is that it stars Charlie Day, one of the writers, producers and main characters of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, one of my favourite TV programs.

Jennifer Aniston looks great in it too, so different from the usual rom-com roles she plays, this time she's a bit more naughty and crazy, rather than the unlucky-in-love pretty girl that she seems to be typecast as on and off-screen.

The basic synopsis is, the three main characters played by Charlie Day, Jason Bateman and Jason Sudeikis all hate their unbearable bosses, and forge a plan to kill them, with various hilarious moments along the way.

Here's the trailer:
